RIP, Farrah. Forget Charlie’s Angels.
It was Cannonball Run that made me fall in love with you as a kid.
I’ll never forget you.

…and, alas, bandwidth issues on-site made live streaming impossible for our scheduled coverage of Le Mans (via Polizei’s Mystery Racing Theater) AND The 12 Hours Of GPNY itself. We apologize, but this is what happens when events are planned on short notice, which comes down to my decision to enter the event only a few days ago. We know - as do all fans of Team Polizei - that there is no substitute for advance planning, testing and redundancy. This anomaly is both a first and a last for us, I can assure you, and we look forward to resuming our normal broadcast schedule of race coverage in a couple of weeks, when Team Polizei deploys at Laguna Seca yet again.
For Moto GP.
Yes, Moto GP.

Are cool GM police interceptors gone forever?
It is a sad day in the automotive world as GM files for bankruptcy, but while everyone worries about its stock price, restructured debt obligations and fire-sale prices for its subsidiaries, we at Polizei HQ are sad for another reason, because GM’s passing marks the end of the era of cool police interceptors. Sigh.
Today, Team Polizei salutes the two finest police vehicles GM ever produced; the 1992 F-body CHP IROC B4C RS interceptor, and the 1996 LT1 Caprice 9C1 police cruiser…

And here it is. The e-mail from the real Polizei - sent from a personal address in a cute font and color - that led to our Banned Sale last week.

Obviously, I had to remove his information, but if you read the full message after the jump, I’d be grateful for any insights into his psychology. I have my theories, but first, let’s hear yours first.

Even I didn’t think we could get away with it forever. Alas, what appeared a friendly e-mail exchange with an actual Polizei officer took a nasty turn…that will probably lead to the ban of Team Polizei 144’s current merchandise.
Yes. It’s true. The Polizei 144 clothing line is in danger.
Which is why I am taking pre-emptive action. Now. Before it’s too late.
As of 1600hr EST, all original Polizei 144 jackets are on sale.
Pricing? Up to 45% off.
Availability? Limited, or until seizure by our former friends.
Secure one of the remaining Polizei 144 jackets now.
Before it’s too late.
Details to follow, including screenshots of the initial communications between the Polizei and Team Polizei…

I didn’t see her, and I don’t know her, but here’s the full 144B/Paris Hilton story from The Superficial. Polizei 144B’s gonna need a wash AND wax, alas, which is a shame because 144B hasn’t - as per Team Polizei protocol - been washed in nearly a year. Washing proper rally cars und Autobahn Interceptors is for cowards and charlatans, but when things like…er…that depicted above happen, well, exceptions must be made. If 144B could have driven herself away KITT-style, I’m sure she would have avoided having herself in frame mit Paris.

My gut says it’s totally cancelled. I’ll say it again. NBC’s US version of Top Gear will not air in 2009. Or ever.
That’s just my opinion, of course, but if one studies the timeline I assembled last May one mo’ time, throws in some new information I just acquired from two inside sources, considers the catastrophe that is Top Gear Australia, includes the fact that Top Gear USA isn’t listed on NBC’s upcoming lineup, and adds something as big as…er…the socio-econo-cultural state of the union, well…decide for yourself.

Michael Hollander - witness to the U.S. Express, automotive journalist extraordinaire, friend to (and cameo talking head in) the 32:07 project, and general mensch and mentor to eccentrics like myself - has passed away. Tributes and more over at Cory Welles’ blog…

Polizei friend, ally and occasional contributor Jordan Vega took some time out from his MBA studies to watch the new Knight Rider…er…in hopes of re-living his mispent youth. Click below to read his review of the first episode.
