Polizei Racing Adds Peter Ludwig to Homestead Grand-Am Race Roster!

Polizei 144 Racing is delighted to add a NEW co-driver to our roster…and I’m talking about a character as big as yours truly, yet quite the opposite, for I’m talking about Master Pilot Peter Ludwig (above right).  Other than his huge personality and brobdignian modesty, Herr Ludwig is my opposite in almost every way: winner of numerous races in multiple series (including Koni Challenge), expert at both short distance and endurance racing.

On behalf of Polizei Racing Captain Rene Villeneuve, Master Pilot Henri Richard, El Jefe Liz Moses and everyone at Polizei HQ, it’s truly a delight to have Herr Ludwig join the TRG/Polizei 63 entry in this weekend’s Rolex Grand Am race in Homestead, Florida…

More to follow.

Henri Richard Races From Valenica to Make Homestead Grand Am Race This Weekend!

BREAKING NEWS!  Team Polizei 144 Racing Master Pilot Henri Richard is – literally – racing (by plane) to Homestead, Florida from Valencia, Spain where’s he’s been testing his Ferrari Challenge car for…you guessed it…yet another assault on the Ferrari Challenge series. If he brings his usual intensity (as evidenced in the right picture above) then I’ll bet ten out-of-use marks he makes Homestead right on time.

Fly safe, Richard. The team is counting on you for the final race of the 2009 Rolex Grand-Am season!

Villeneuve On Racing, Part 2

(This is Part 2 of Polizei Racing Team Captain Rene Villeneuve‘s ongoing series about a life spent racing. Read Part 1 here.)

Enter Alex Roy…I thought he was pretty crazy when I first met him, and those of you who know him know I was right to think so. But it didn’t take long for me to discover he had something, and I wasn’t sure even he knew he had it.  He was doing a great job promoting his book at the time, but it seemed what he was really promoting was himself. Sure he’s a great personality and a wonderful speaker, not to mention the things he’s done that most people only dream about. The rest of us are trying to prove our self worth through extreme sports and stunts, as nowadays it seems that if you’re willing hurt yourself on TV someone will watch.  There’s no other rhyme or reason to it all.  It’s just silly.

INTERVIEW: Polizei 144 Racing's New Master Pilot – Henri Richard

Richard. Henri Richard. Prepare for lots of italics.

Not only is he Team Polizei Racing‘s new Master Pilot, not only has he led his other team – Silicon Tech Racing – to multiple Ferrari Challenge podiums, not only will his Ferrari be depicted in the upcoming PS3 game of the sameand not only is a self-made leader undeterred by adversity, he’s also a nice guy. No, really. Honest when questioned, blunt when necessary, positive and supportive despite all, he’s won. He’s spun. Resilience is his middle name.

His name is Richard, Henri Richard. He’s the French James Bond, married with children, and he’s the gentleman racer others who claim to be wish they were.

He’s got a high CeoC, and he’s also very good at Rock Band, but he might not admit it.

Yes, I like him. Were I to grow up, he’d be a pretty good example to follow.

Were I ever to plan that “thing” I’d never plan…say…a true Cannonball Run/U.S. Express-style race, an underground race of adults who’d treat it as seriously as those in the original events, a race totally unlike anything today…well…Henri Richard is precisely the type of man I’d invite.

Not that I’d ever do such a thing. Nor would Richard, of course. Maybe. Read on, for I did ask.

UPDATE: Team Polizei New Contact Page Now Live!

You asked for it. Liz demanded it, and here it is.

Team Polizei has grown, we’ve made a lot of new friends, and our incredible weekend @ MotoGP made it clear that it was time to seriously update the Team Polizei Contact List page.

So here it is. Almost four times longer than the old one, and its still not done, at least not until someone I forgot complains. Don’t worry, this list will grow much longer in the next few days.

To all our new friends and business partners, thanks for your amazing support. You know who you are and Polizei schwag is coming, along with some Shirley Temples (so you can retain designated driver status AND your SCCA & Grand Am licenses.)

So…want to reach Liz?  Rene?  Henri?  They and everyone else can be found here.

VILLENEUVE: My Journey Through Racing, Part 1

“Stay Focused”

It is no secret that The Verizon Festival of Speed at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on May 15-17th, 2009, marked my first outing in top-level sports car competition in 5 years. The last time I raced was in Speed World Challenge, in an uncompetitive car with an uncaring team.

The months leading up to the race were dominated by preparations, for which I was grateful, for left to my own thoughts I surely would have become my own worst enemy. Until last month I had never driven a purpose-built, race-ready Porsche.  All my 20 years of experience had landed me in single-seaters or front engine/rear-drive race cars.  I also knew it would be physically demanding, so there was a need to accelerate my physical and mental capacities.

Some might ask, why the 5-year break?  Well, there are a few reasons and I really don’t mind sharing them although they may surprise some of you.
