“We’re raising money to combat leprosy.”
Here’s to you, Rob Feretti, for keeping a straight face while telling a Colorado police officer that the 2010 Bullrun was raising money to eradicate leprosy.
I don’t know if I could have done it.

The Battle of Rome continues. Last week we released Part 1. Here’s Part 2.
You may read the full story in the most infamous chapter of “The Driver“…
…for neither video tells the full story.
I retired from such events years ago, with good reason.
See you at Lemons. Or Grand Am. Or Targa. Or Dakar.
Or…somewhere up North.
Far up north.
Or east…

The Battle of Rome.
Team Polizei’s finest (and most infamous) hour.
The epic 100+ mile race through Italy at 120+ miles per hour, as described in The Driver.
Polizei M5 144A vs. a Porsche 996 Turbo X50.
Only now, five years after the expiration of the last relevant European legal statutes, we can finally make public the video of our heretofore unseen battle against Spencer Bourne, a legend among both UK Porsche Club racers & the Gumball 3000′s inner circle of veterans. And yes – for them – it was a race.
Those days may be over, but the story of what did occur on the Gumball between 2003 and 2007 has yet to be told.
Until now.
Behold…The Battle of Rome.
Part 1.
Anyone Else Notice The Shortage of Press Re: Gumball 3000 2010? Ironically, I was really interested to see more coverage of the 2008 route through North Korea, which I was sorry to miss. Nothing since the 2004 route through Morocco sounded as crazy.
In any case, the 2010 Gumball goes global again, yet there’s barely any pre-coverage.

Opinions? I have mine, but would love to hear yours. Just PM me if you don’t want it public.
“First has a quality all its own,” at least according to Polizei Master Pilot Michael Ross.
Recognize that image? How about the map? Yes, the infamous Gumball ALK CoPilot live GPS track which inspired Polizei 144 uber-kreator Josh Vietze to create our first new shirt design in two years. (Hint: Here’s the back-story.)
In production and weeks away, now you too can pre-order the commemorative Athens-Tirana GeoTrack T-Shirt by clicking through to the Polizei 144 store…
Kinda hard to know who to believe on this one. The Sun, hardly the model of objectivity, said the group of middle-aged motorists were on a sedate European tour. The organizers, Circuit Days, out of the UK, issued a press release to say they believed the polizei acted improperly and that their Euro Enduro event is not an illegal race, it’s just a social driving event. Circuit Days also points out that the polizei have "no evidence of any speeding, careless, inconsiderate or dangerous driving by the participants." However, if you look at their website, they call themselves the organizers of the Euro Enduro "road rally events." The polizei, according to The Sun, said, "It was an illegal race."

It’s called GTS World Racing by Pazzazz Games and just from the YouTube video, you can tell there’s a night and day difference between this game and the Audi A4 iPhone game we hated a couple of weeks ago. We have yet to download it out of the fear of it becoming a major timesuck in the office but may have to as a service to our readers. It’s also available for Palm OS, Pocket PC and Windows Mobile Smartphone.

BREAKING NEWS: A traffic accident occured today at approximately 1305HR PST on I-5 South, and the initial SigAlert report stated that “…sev Lamborghinis Caused this Traffic Collision…”
Watch the video and decide for yourself. The witnesses got the cars wrong, and the SUV/trailer appears to have lost control before the Gumballers passed. My gut tells me that the 2008 Gumball 3000 cars nearby probably weren’t the cause of the jack-knifed SUV/trailer accident seen in the right lane above.
See the accident location in Google Maps and the original SigAlert screenshot after the jump:

"We’re very well aware of it and we’ll be monitoring what’s going on."
That’s what one California Highway Patrol spokesperson told the LA Times…and yet Day 1 of the 2008 Gumball 3000 – which ran from San Francisco to Buttonwillow Raceway Park to Hollywood, CA – ended last night with what appears to be one of the slowest, lowest-ticketed grids in Gumball 3000 (if not modern "rally") history…at least according to our friends and allies actually on it.
God bless Gumball 3000 2008′s Team Arbuckle, who’ve proven their professionalism by arriving first at the Buttonwillow Checkpoint with an astounding lead over the rest of the field.
