Ebury Press, a division of Random House, has released a near (if not the) final version of the UK cover of my memoir "The Driver", and I’ve got say I might even love the 60′s-style cover more than the US edition’s sleek/modern approach. I do find the tagline somewhat amusing, since those aren’t quite the words I would use in conversation to describe my story, nor the story of the myriad surreal characters I’ve met over my years driving. I actually liked Bullrun on Spike, and, despite wretched reviews in the mainstream press, I wasn’t alone in thinking this was better than almost every other car-related show in recent memory – especially Fox’s steaming-pile-otherwise-known-as-Drive.
Sadly – and this has been strangely overlooked in pretty much every media outlet except the wrestling press – Bullrun on Spike was cancelled. If you want more Bullrun, whether on Spike or elsewhere, one hardy fan has set up this online petition to find them a home.
Team Polizei Wallpaper of the Day #8 is a picture taken on June 6th of the 2004 Bullrun USA – a day that shall live in infamy. My first arrest on a rally, I was captured by the Arizona Department of Public Safety after doing 168 mph in a…well…I didn’t know what the speed limit was in the vicinity of Kingman…but the Mojave County Jail was one I’d rather not visit again.
Team Polizei Wallpaper of the Day #3 is from the 2005 Bullrun. One of my favorite pics of perhaps our most aggressive-ever livery, our Renntech Mercedes CL600 was captured on film during a brief respite on Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats, where we placed first on the interim stage between Salt Lake City and Reno, then took 2nd place overall just a few days later. This – the third time Team Polizei faced the vaunted Richard Rawlings of Team Gasmonkey – was the first time we beat him. Jalopnik has the full story in their archives.

Today’s Wallpaper – Polizei M5 in London – 2005 Gumball 3000
I’ve just posted the first of a large series of official Team Polizei hi-rez wallpapers, at least, they look good on my 30" monitor. Just click on any of the images for a hi-rez version.
I’ll be featuring a new one every day until the October release of The Driver – after which additional all-new 2006 & 2007 images and video will be released.
Team Polizei’s YouTube Channel, having rapidly grown in recent weeks, will soon debut a massive set of heretofore unseen official Polizei videos from Gumball 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2007, the 2004 Bullrun, along with several unexpected goodies.
Since Team Polizei‘s launch, only a handful of official videos have ever been released, comprising a total of 18 minutes.
Team Polizei will be releasing a total of 12+ new videos – one per week – through October 1st…the release of date my of my book "The Driver". A total of 24 new videos will be released by the end of 2007, totalling 3+ hours, in addition to the release of the very best vintage footage that doesn’t make it into the initial release of "32 Hours, 7 Minutes".
In other words, we will be releasing ten times more official footage than has been seen in the last four years.
I hope you enjoy it all as much as I have. Sign up for Team Polizei’s RSS feed or mailing list for daily or weekly updates.
Here it is, coming October 1. You can click on the image to pre-order it from Amazon.
After a year and a half of exhaustive work, I’m proud to say that Harper Collins will release my memoir "The Driver" in the United States on October 8th, 2007. I’m still in the process of planning my book tour, which will be something quite…unexpected.
Sorry for the huge category list, but the book really does cover all these items, and more.
May I suggest you pre-order it…er…HERE, but the book cover isn’t up yet.
