Because you asked, or at least you asked Des @ GT Spirit. Despite the naysayers, Team Polizei’s Jon9 vouches for her, and she did far far better than Caitlin Upton. Be nice. (Keep it up, Ash – but be nice. I heard what you did at the 2007 Players Run Finish Line Party in LA.)

My old friend and veteran Mille Miglia driver Henry Fyshe is featured in this excellent new documentary, "Mille Miglia – The Spirit of a Legend". If you aren’t familiar with the history of automotive events on public roads before the era of the Gumball 3000 and the original Cannonball Run, then this is for you. Congratulations to producer/director Philip Selkirk, who contacted me about this project way back in its early days.
Philip…any chance of a Region 1 DVD for my American friends and I?
The Truth About Cars – one of my favorite car sites – just re-posted this Forbes piece, which should be required reading before anyone gets a drivers license.
…then you can afford to be generous. The Rady Children’s Hospital was the penultimate checkpoint on the 2007 Players Run, and, as Team Polizei’s Jon "9" Goodrich pointed out in his event wrap-up, several participants really pulled out the stops. Kudos to Rob Rill & Team Darkcyde.
So before you buy those new rims, make a contribution to your karmic balance sheet.
Kudos to Marcus from Players Run for making this part of the event. Every such event shoud.

Ashley, 9 and Dustin from Mischief.tv, and whose haircut requires an explanation…
Multiple final updates from Des @ GT Spirit (check out his frequently updated photo gallery and forums), the Players Run Official Blog, After Dark 360, and Team Polizei’s very own Piloten Jon Goodrich, vacationing with Ashley Van Dyke on this year’s Players Run, who ends his wrap-up with a very personal thanks to those who helped him. Before the jump, I’d like to thank Marcus – organizer of the Players Run, Carbon McCoy from eCirkit, and Bret Haller from The Unlimited Class, who were kind enough to invite Team Polizei and took such good care of my old friend 9…

Yes. It’s true. Before anyone thinks I’m being a pessimist, I am certain there is a future for car rallies…but it’s not quite what anyone expects.
We must clarify the difference between an automotive "race" and a "rally" – there are many definitions, but they can be boiled down to two (perhaps overly simplistic) explanations:
Race – A competition whose victory criteria are based on shortest elapsed time(s).
Rally – An event which may be competitive, but whose victory criteria are not based on shortest elapsed time.
I will expound on these in the coming weeks, which brings me to how a lot of people have asked why I’ve yet to post my full Londino wrap-up. I’ve got a good reason. Although organizers Anders Bernunger and Jens & Erik Trulsson specifically (and wisely) shoot down any mention of the word "rally" in relation to what they call the "de Grisogono Londino Transnational Automobile Tour", their event represents the best-executed, most forward-thinking, utterly brilliant and legal evolution of automotive rallies.

In light of the Colin McRae tragedy, I don’t have the energy or desire to comment on this somewhat predictable story just yet…but you can pick it up over at GT Spirit. Suffice to say, I’m not surprised.
Colin McRae, the WRC Champion whose name many first learned from the eponymous video game, was killed with his son yesterday in a tragic helicopter crash near his home in Scotland. The former plumber was widely beloved among motorsport fans for his good nature and sense of humor. There is nothing I can add to external coverage of this terrible accident.
My thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends.
Jon9 with an update from the 2007 Players Run:
After arriving first to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway yesterday, we
went to the Wynn, checked in and returned to the Speedway for the
Mario Andretti Indy Experience. Was truly unique in that we got to
drive a real indy car at speed on a perfectly banked NASCAR oval.
Ashley pushed her instructor to almost 150 MPH in the six laps she
turned and we both agreed that it was an experience we would not
soon forget.

…so new no posts for at least 24 hours. Not even the adventures of 9 & Ash vacationing on the Players Run. Sorry. Check out GT Spirit in the meantime.
Know about Ecirkit? The’re 9 & Ash’s generous sponsors. Show some love.
